Psychological Testing
Psychological testing, also called psychological assessments, can be helpful in providing a valuable insight into one’s strengths, abilities, and area of weakness. It can assist in providing diagnostic clarity and guidance for treatment. It is a formal way of measuring if one is deficient in cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. The more informed we are, the better decisions we can make about your treatment.
At Westbrook Psychological Services (WPS), we are experienced in conducting a wide array of psychological and neuropsychological testing for learning disabilities, VA evaluations, disability evaluations, autism spectrum disorder, attention disorders (ADD/ADHD), bariatric surgery, giftedness, age-related issues, cognitive functioning, and more. We use state of the art assessment tools and provide comprehensive reports.
Who Do We Serve?
We are proud to offer services to children, adolescents, and adults from the ages of 2 and up
What to Expect?
When it comes to psychological testing there is no right or wrong answer. At WPS, we take the time to explain the assessment process and will go out of our way to help you feel relaxed.
When meeting with the psychologist you can expect an in-depth clinical interview, which typically includes, but is not limited to, a review of your previous records of treatment and academic documents. The clinical Interview can take up to 2 hours.
What Next?

The testing session then moves into the formal testing phase that consists of the administration of a number of standardized tests, which are selected based on the requested need for the assessment. The testing phase can take up to several hours and may require more than one testing day.

After Testing is Completed: The test that was administered is scored and must be interpreted by the psychologist. The results are then presented in a formal written report, which includes recommendations based on test findings. A final meeting with the psychologist is scheduled for a review of the results and recommendations.
